New Reviews - who can cut the mustard?
I am going to start reviewing some services to see if they cut the mustard and have the potential to be added to my portfolio.
Reviews will last for 3 months as standard, although some may take longer if there are a low volume of bets and therefore not enough action to judge the service properly.
Although all my current services are betting services, I am interested in forex and stock market services so I will giving those a go too.
Over the next few days I will post summaries of the services I am going to be trialing, what they are about and claimed results.
And of course most importantly - do the results in live trialing match the claimed results and can the service turn a profit?

New *Even More* Streamlined Approach!
OK, so I have had another think about things over the last couple of weeks and have decided I need to streamline further. My turnover per day is still too high - some days it is over 3k(!) and when you get a bad day that can wipe out far too much of your bank.
So it is goodbye to the following:-
Price Power
Racing Professionals AW service
Their strike rate is just too low to consider following these two. With the Racing Professionals, I have real concerns that the profit since going live is nothing like their previous results pre- going live.
They also just seem to back all Godolphin selections on the AW. A good policy that may be but I don't really need to pay a subscription for that! I can just click on the Godolphin website and see their runners for the day!
They do put up other selections but my worry is they are just operating a trainer-based selection system which in my experience is questionable in the long run. Plus it seems they have started up another website with astounding results. What's that old phrase about if something seems too good to be true...
With Price Power, I can't argue with their long-term record but sadly the strike rate is just too low and I can't seem to get anything like their advised prices with BSP, so I have to bite the bullet with this one. But I wish them all the best, a good and honest service.
So the new list is now:
Banker Bets
Bettingbias (horse racing and golf)
Dark Horses
Isiris MYC
Morning Value Service
Racing Consultants
Tim Russell Private Service:
Value Seeker
Win Form Pro
Nine services in all - is there perhaps one more to make it a round ten? Lol no I must stick to this and not get involved in adding any more for the time being. Too many services is what got me into trouble in the first place.
RESULTS UPDATE:
Apologies for the lack of results updates over the last couple of weeks whilst I have been pondering what to do about my betting portfolio, but I will give a short update now.
The overall picture has been an improvement, particularly by the horse racing services. Hats off to MVS and the Value Seeker in particular who have been in sparkling form.
Sadly Banker Bets have hit something of a horror run and have therefore wiped out a lot of their previous profits and also those I had made on the geegeez!
Sods law I think they call it. Anyway, hopefully that was just a blip and they will return to winning ways again now. The bank can build very quickly with a run of 10 or 15 winners.
One last thing to add - I will start doing running totals on a daily basis starting from today to make it easier for people to see how the services are doing. Plus I will include my pounds/point for each service and the bank I am using.
Good luck all, hopefully this is the beginning of something special...

January Review
I am just going to review from when I restarted this blog rather than the whole of January because that was when I formalised records properly.
January Totals
Win Form Pro: -£200
Morning Value Service: -£753.75
Racing Consultants: £0
Price Power: -£1295
The Racing Professionals AW Service: £505
BTTS and Win: -£617.50
Banker Bets: £193
Isiris MYC: £38
Bettingbias (horse racing and golf): £663.50
Steve Lewis Hamilton: -£650
Tim Russell Private Service: -£1018
Value Seeker: £824.25
Dark Horses: £279
Value Football Bets: -£820
JANUARY TOTAL: -£2851.50
So obviously the first thing to recognise is that it has been a very disappointing start since I recommenced this blog.
It is slightly mitigated by the fact that I was well in profit for the earlier part of January, so things aren't quite as bad as they seem above. But we can't get away from the fact that it's been a dismal couple of weeks.
The big question is: should I change anything?
There is always a tendency when you encounter a severe downturn like this to lose faith and abandon things. In fact I think that's what most gamblers do and is one of the main reasons why 98% of people lose at this game. They keep switching around systems and strategies as soon as they hit a losing run so are basically just running up losses again and again.
You have to recognise that gambling is a long-term strategy and you are not going to win all the time - there will be losing runs.
The key point to evaluate is whether any of the services have lost their edge or value.
You could take the Morning Value Service, for instance, and say it has had a bad month and before that had only been bumping along for the last few months.
But then you have to remember that it has made over £120,000 to £50 stakes over the last 3 years so one bad month does not a bad service make. It is far too early to tell whether they have lost their edge - the downturn is well within the statistical margin of error. If it continued this way for another 3 or 4 months, then you could seriously question its viability. But for moment I am happy to continue with it.
The same could be said for the Price Power. You could look at the results above and be tempted to throw in the towel. But then you consider they had winners at 66/1, 33/1, two at 25/1 and a host in the 10-20/1 range before that in January. And they came within a whisker of landing a 120/1 winner. Overall they were still nearly 25 points up in January, so I am not prepared to ditch them just yet, despite the disappointing run over the last couple of weeks.
Tim Russell had also built up over £700 profit prior to his recent downturn, so I will stick with him too.
However, I have thought about things very carefully and decided to take action on some of the services in my portfolio.
Before I get onto those though, I want to elucidate my main criteria for selecting services and this will perhaps give a better rationale for the changes I intend to make:
In short, services I select must:

Overall they were still nearly 25 points up in January, so I am not prepared to ditch them just yet, despite the disappointing run over the last couple of weeks.
Tim Russell had also built up over £700 profit prior to his recent downturn, so I will stick with him too.
However, I have thought about things very carefully and decided to take action on some of the services in my portfolio.
Before I get onto those though, I want to elucidate my main criteria for selecting services and this will perhaps give a better rationale for the changes I intend to make:
In short, services I select must:
- Have an established track record over a number of years demonstrating a clear edge over the market - the longer the track record the better;
- This record must be proofed by a reliable source;
- They must be clearly profitable at Betfair SP. This does not mean that just because you can't get the advised prices of a service, it is not worth following - just that BSP must still return a good profit.
- No loss recovery staking systems! It must be profitable at level stakes or it is not actually a successful betting strategy - it is purely the staking system that is producing the profits. And eventually a disastrous losing run will be hit - that is a statistical certainty.
The above four are essential. Without these, basically you should not be following a service because you are just chancing your arm. And you must be able to use Betfair because any system that works well will eventually have you bookie accounts closed or limited - that is a guarantee. And then if you can't work things at Betfair you are basically finished.
I then have some criteria that whilst not essential, are important and give a service extra weighting:
- A high strike rate. This will make a massive difference to the size of bank you use and therefore your stakes and crucially, how quickly you can build your bank.
- High volume. This allows your bank to grow much more quickly.
- A good ROI - whilst not as important as the above two, the higher the ROI over a long period, the larger the edge over the bookies/market.
On the basis of this, I am making the following changes:
BTTS & Win:
This fails on two counts - firstly, it is not profitable at Betfair. This is because Betfair do not offer this market on the majority of matches! So you have no option but to use a bookie. And sadly most of the bets are with one or two bookies, meaning that the better the service does, the more likely account closures become. Then you are restricted to using odds below the advised prices and missing the value.
The other aspect that troubles me about this service is the bank required. The recent revision of the previous 50 point bank to 100 means that growing this bank is likely to take a long time. Perhaps you could double it once a season, but for me coupled with the above, this just knocks the service out and means I will be dropping it.
I should end by saying I still think this is a good service and has made profit for me. But in the long term I can't see it being practical for me and account closures seem just a matter of time.
Steve Lewis Hamilton
I have been with Steve's tipping service a long time and respect his expertise but am beginning to question its profitability. It seems to have struggled lately and has a very low frequency of bets - just 3.7 per week on average.
Looking at the results over the last seven years, he has made 650 points profit, which is no mean feet. However, with average stakes of 1.8 units per bet, that works out at just over 50 points a year to 1 point level stakes. With a considerable bank size needed, I just can't see this one really ever making a huge profit for me. 100 points a year at £50 is £5,000 - a nice profit but not life changing and with the high subscription costs added in just doesn't worth continuing with for me.
Value Football Bets
I probably never should have become involved with this one in the first place as it breaks one of my cardinal rules - its track record is far too short being just a couple of months. Although I have a lot of respect for Kevin Laverick, I think this should be a trial service with much reduced stakes rather than a full blown part of my portfolio.
The big recent losses illustrate that this is a work in progress and in some ways I am kicking myself for following the hype rather than trialing it for a sustained period or waiting a couple of years for established results.
Conclusion
So there you have it. Perhaps fairly drastic action taken with three services removed, but I think if I am honest they never should have been part of my portfolio in the first place.
I have to be clear in my mind about what I am looking for: established long-term services with the ability to rapidly and consistently grow a betting bank.
Another small change I am making is to start backing Price Power each way rather than win only and reduce the stakes accordingly. They advise each way so that's what I should be doing, plus it will ease the pain of the losing runs.
So, hopefully February will be a better month with these changes made and we can back on the road to success...

A better day to start February after January's horror show.
The B's continue to impress me - Banker Bets had a superb January nearly doubling my betting bank. It is a service I have very high hopes for indeed.
Betting Bias also returned a nice profit on the golf yet again with McIlroy winning and Gallacher placing in Dubai and Harold Varner placing at the Panama Open.

I don't have much time for write ups but suffice to say this was an absolutely horrific day.
It could have been a great one though if Monaleen had got up to win in the 2.00 at Lingfield. It was tipped up by Price Power at a massive BSP of 120. Looked like it had landed it but got nabbed on the line, losing by a nose. That would have won me 3 grand and turned a terrible day into a very good one. Such are the fine margins we live and die by.

What was I saying yesterday about getting back into profits?
Well today was the kind of horror story Stephen King would be proud of writing. Where do I begin - perhaps with the small positives like Isiris and Bettingbias. Everything else that bet had a losing day.
Tim Russell has hit a bit of a losing run to wipe out his previous profits built up in January which is shame because I have high hopes for him based on past results and Tony Gibson's strong backing of him.
Price Power could do with hitting a winner, although to be fair to them they tip at high odds so long losing runs are expected and they have had a good January overall.
The day was salvaged for me by my trial services which had a bit of a blinder: Confidential Racing smashed in three winners from four bets, the Diff Code had wins on both its Europe and Oil services and the VHSS service had a better day to start to claw back some of yesterday's losses.
Plus my own betting went well as the Godolphin all-weather bandwagon rolled on at Meydan. I will be writing more about the wonders of this outfit on dirt in the weeks to some, but suffice to say it has been very profitable following them this Winter.
Banker Bets have two overnight bets in the Basketball so let's see how those go to hopefully set things up for a better Friday.

A better day today, glad to be back to winning ways.
Shout out to the Racing Professionals AW service who landed a very tasty winner in the shape of Trojan Rocket at the track formerly known as Great Leighs. The BSP on that one was 23 - good on them after a troubled couple of months for the service.
Banker Bets rolled on with a nice winner in the basketball and Tony Gibson continues to produce the goods, with both his Value Seeker and Dark Horses services producing a profit on the day.
Hopefully tomorrow will continue with the profits.
p.s. one of the services I am trialing - the VHSS - had the shocker of all shockers today, losing a whopping 40 pts on the day! They have a tremendous record, having won over 70 grand in the last two years to £25 e/w stakes, so hopefully this is just a blip and normal service will resume very soon!

Value Football Bets: no bets £0
TOTAL: £384.45

In a bit of a sticky patch at the moment, most of the tipsters just can't seem to get going. There are some notable exceptions, but sadly the likes of BTTS, Steve Lewis Hamilton, Value Football Bets, the Racing Professionals and MVS have had a tough January,
It's a busier day's racing on Wednesday so hopefully things will pick up and if the weather settles down then the tipsters will have more to go at.

Dark Horses: -2pts -£60
Value Football Bets: no bets £0
TOTAL: -£296.50
The day looked like it might be heading for decent profit when Bush Beauty won for two of my services: BettingBias and the Racing Professionals at a tasty BSP of 14.5, netting me over a grand.
However, if that was the beauty, then the match I have just watched between Pacos Ferrera and Benfica was certainly the beast. A terrible game to view with very little fluent football and a lot of niggly fouling. Benfica should have put the points - and the win for Banker Bets - to bed long before the end, missing a penalty and hitting the woodwork three times, before Pacos grabbed a late winner with a penalty of their own. Just one of those days I suppose.
To note, BTTS & Win's horror run continues and it has been pointed out that the advised 50 point bank is not sufficient to cover the recent losses. In light of this I have switched to a 100 point bank and downgraded my stakes to £30 per point. Hopefully we will see an improvement soon.
Andy Murray plays early tomorrow for Banker Bets so hopefully I will wake up with an easy winner to start my day...
p.s. I have added a trial of Confidential Racing and will update results on a weekly basis.

It was all about the Bs today - Bettingbias landing a 28/1 winner on the golf with Brandan Grace and Banker Bets marches relentlessly on with three more winners today in the shape of Nadal, Lyon and Sporting Lisbon. Only the latter of those three gave any cause for concern, waiting until the 77th minute to break the deadlock.
BTTS & Win continues its downtrend unfortunately, while Isiris has experienced something of a correction in the last few days and Price Power are in need of a winner.
That's all for this week, here's hoping next week is a better one.

The day finished in profit but that was thanks to just two services really.
Firstly Banker Bets, who had a few close run things on Saturday. Real were struggling badly away at Cordoba after Ronaldo had petulantly got himself sent off, but a few minutes from time Gareth Bale both won and scored a penalty to snatch the points for the league leaders.
Nice to see him get the winner as he has taken a lot of stick lately from the Real fans. Without that it would have been a losing day for me, so I did feel somewhat Baled out (excuse the pun, but I bet a lot of headline writes are using that as well today!)
Two other Banker Bet selections - Villareal and Celtic - also only won by a single goal, but a win is a win and I was happy to collect over 500 quid from their selections on Saturday.
The other service that did the business on Saturday was the Value Seeker (aka Tony Gibson), who continued his winning ways with Carraci Apache at Doncaster.
Bettingbias also had a winner with Gabrial's Wawa at Lingfield for a profit on the day.
Sadly after a brilliant start to the service, BTTS & Win have hit a bit of a horror run and given away a lot of their previous profits. Hopefully this is just a blip and they will return to form soon.
On to Sunday, which looks like a quieter day with only one UK race meeting.

What happened to Man U?
Friday 23rd January 2015
Win Form Pro: no bets £0
Morning Value Service: -10.34pts -£258.50
Racing Consultants: +1.6pts £56
Price Power: -6pts -£150
The Racing Professionals AW Service: -2.55 -£63.75

Value Seeker: 18.32pts £641.20
Dark Horses: 4.9pts £147
Value Football Bets: -1pt -£142
TOTAL: -£875.05
Well a pretty poor day by all accounts. The only real positive note was the Value Seeker landing a 10/1 shot for 2pts to claw back some of the losses late on in the day.
It was also unfortunate that George Baker didn't quite manage to get his nose in front in the 6.15 at Wolves, losing by just a short head.
I had backed him under multiple tipsters and it would have turned a losing day into quite a profitable one. That's racing I suppose, sometimes you just have to suck it up.
A real shame that Man Utd couldn't overcome lowly Cambridge Utd as well, as that ended a winning streak of 22 for the Banker Bets service and lost me 480 quid. I didn't watch the game so I don't know what happened to them, but I'm presuming they dominated the game but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Not to worry, on to tomorrow and hopefully some better luck.

Back in Business!
Right, I have decided to give this a go again after a long break.
After many years of searching, I believe I have collated the ultimate list of tipsters and systems to go to war with. So my quest to turn a living (or at least derive a decent second income) from betting is back on track. Woohoo!
There are no guarantees in this business and it could all go horribly pear-shaped, but I am prepared to give things another go, because frankly I quite like the idea of not having to work and playing golf and watching racing instead!
Anyway, in no particular order as they say on Strictly (yes I am a bloke and admit to watching it, maybe even liking it), here they are: (drum roll please)
Win Form Pro
Morning Value Service
Racing Consultants
Price Power
The Racing Professionals AW Service
BTTS and Win
Banker Bets
Isiris MYC
Bettingbias (horse racing and golf)
Steve Lewis Hamilton
Tim Russell Private Service
Bettingsystems.info - Value Seeker & Dark Horses
Value Football Betting
So that's 13 services (unlucky for some! hopefully not me) to go into bat with. Over the coming days and weeks I will give some explanation as to why I have picked these services.
I am also trialing a few to see if they cut the mustard:
WIN - Nap Investor
Diff Code Europe
Diff Code Oil
Legacy and Saver System
You'll notice this list includes a couple of financial trading services. I am new to financial trading but see no reason why I can't add it to my arsenal and quite liked the look of the Diff Code services by Martin Carter so thought I would give them a whirl.
Also on trial is the only "system" as opposed to a tipping service, and that is the Legacy and Saver system. A tried and tested system that has apparently stood the test of time and delivered profits each year for the last 30 years. Now just watch it fall apart as soon as I start to follow it...
Thursday 22nd January 2015
Right, the important bit: today's results.
I'm afraid I won't have time to write up the selections for each and every service - that would take yonks! But I will give a daily P/L and highlight the good winners / bloody annoying losers.
Win Form Pro: no bets £0
Morning Value Service: +10.5 pts £262.50
Racing Consultants: +16.4 pts £574
Price Power: -6 pts -£150
The Racing Professionals AW Service: -1.87 -£46.75
BTTS and Win: no bets £0
Banker Bets: no bets £0
Isiris MYC: -7pts -£175

Value Seeker: -2pts -£70
Dark Horses: 2.9pts £87

TOTAL: £181.75
Well a profitable day so I can't complain - thanks in no small part to a couple of very decent winners for the Racing Consultants, a service I'm really growing to like (kiss of death officially applied).
They smashed in a 2pt winner with Djakadam in the feature race at Gowran Park and also scored with Running Wolf at Fakenham to rack up a tidy 574 quid profit on the day at my £35/point stakes.
Also worthy of mention is the Morning Value Service that is just starting to show signs of getting back to its previous brilliant form.
Steve Lewis Hamilton drew a blank today as did Price Power (note - I bet Price Power win only although they advise e/w. This is because I bet at BSP so don't see the point in win/place betting on Betfair)..
There was nothing from my trial services today - although I have to confess I didn't have time to look up if there were any Legacy and Saver bets. It therefore no doubt nailed a load of winners today :)
